Borneo Football International Foundation
Kalimantan, Indonesia
New in 2018 for SD Canada!
The Borneo Football International Foundation has been working in Kalimantan for almost 3 years providing a healthy and safe environment for local children (many of them from low income families), who like to play football (soccer). The Foundation also provides health and nutrition programs, school support and English language education. The Borneo Football International Academy, located in the Subud community of Rungan Sari, was begun by Subud members in March 2015 with just 14 young people. By the end of May there were 80 children and youth playing soccer. Daniela Bustillo, a member of the Foundation reports:

“At the end of 2017 we reached a record number of 200 players, many of them girls. Borneo Football has become a very popular project amongst the local communities and currently we are working with children from 6 villages.”
It is the only Academy of its kind in the entire region, and has drawn support from local government and private institutions to fund the first Borneo Football Cup in 2015 held at the Palankaraya Stadium in August. It has become a grand, much- awaited tournament since!
“To improve the quality of our educational program and to expand the number of beneficiaries we are planning for 2018 to launch new activities to encourage the practice of the game and to motivate the children to learn English through Football.”
In 2019 SD Canada has agreed to donate $3,000 to the Borneo Football International Foundation.
